When I woke up, a whole new group of people were in the waiting room. I stretched, yawned and looked at the clock on the wall. It was seven thirty in the morning. I had been out for a while. After getting some coffee and a nasty muffin from a vending machine, I went to ask about Kayla.

They let me go back to see her again, but they were still watching the baby in another room. When I walked in, Kayla smiled at me as a tear rolled down her left cheek. Why was she crying? I wondered. Did she know something?

“You okay? What's wrong?”

“I'm just so happy. And worried. I'm overwhelmed.”

I reached out and held her hand in mine. “Have you thought of a name yet?”

“I was thinking of Hemingway Spencer.”

“Why not Hemingway Jacobs?”

She tilted her head to the side and peered at me.

“Are you asking me to marry you?”

“I think I am.” I smiled.

Just then, the doctor walked in.

“I have good news. Your baby is fine. We're going to bring him over shortly so you can hold him.”

“Hemingway,” Kayla said.

“Excuse me?” the doctor asked, confused.

“His name is Hemingway.”

The doctor nodded then walked out of the room.
